Death of an Old Settler

Mr. N. Kephert, of Concord township, died at half-past 12 o'clock Monday, in his 86th year. He was one of the prominent pioneers of that township, and leaves a wife and eight children, among whom are, Mrs. Michael Haney, who resides in Pennsylvania; Bronson Kephert, in Minnesota; Milton, of Spirit Lake; Henry, in Texas; Mrs. Glew, Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Wm. Rebman, of this city. The remaining children are at home. Mr. Kephert was born in Pennsylvania. He came to Dubuque county about forty years ago, settled on a farm in Concord township, an lived an honorable, upright life up to the time of his death. He was sick but twelve days. His funeral will occur this morning.
